Zusammenfassung:	A machine having a snag anvil that prevents an excessive intake rate of material into a grinding or chipping chamber of the machine. The snag anvil includes a recessed impact plane located between longitudinal edges that snag material entering the grinding chamber at an excess intake rate. The machine also includes an open feed roller constructed to prevent material plugging, and a sealing arrangement that eliminates the build up of chip piles underneath the machine.
