Zusammenfassung:	The present invention provides a storage media for the storage and transport of clinical samples. The storage medium comprises a microbiological growth medium, glycerol and a reducing agent. Clinical samples, such as sputum, can be added to the storage medium at the point of collection and then transported in the storage medium at ambient temperatures, refrigerated or as frozen samples. The yield of pathogens using the storage medium is significantly improved. Also provided is a device for the storage and transport of clinical samples which can be used in conjunction with the storage media described herein.
