Zusammenfassung:	A device for pressing a gear rack against a pinion meshing with the gear rack, e.g., in a rack-and-pinion steering system for a motor vehicle, includes a thrust piece, which is loaded by a spring in the direction of the gear rack and is slidably guided in a housing. The thrust piece takes the form of a sintered part, which has a plurality of depressions on its circumferential surface. The regions of the circumferential surface, which are elevated with respect to the depressions, produce the contact of the thrust piece with the housing.
