Zusammenfassung:	A method and apparatus for determining the memory usage of a program is disclosed in which a first and second programs are run, the memory-allocation of the second program is increased and the performance of the first or second programs is monitored against predetermined performance criteria. When the performance of the first or second program fails to meet the predetermined performance criteria the memory usage of the first program is recorded.
