The food composition can be high in protein, contain meat and mayonnaise and is shelf stable for at least 30 days. The preservative system has a component that interferes with the permeability of the cell membrane of spoilage bacteria and pathogens and another component that penetrates the same in order to kill or inhibit growth of such organisms.
