Zusammenfassung:	A method and apparatus for providing spatial scalable compression of an input video stream is disclosed. A base stream is encoded which comprises base features. A residual signal is encoded to produce an enhancement stream comprising enhancement features, wherein the residual signal is the difference between original frames of the input video stream an upscaled frames from the base layer. A processed version of the base features are subtracted from the enhancement features in the enhancement stream.
