Zusammenfassung:	This invention relates to isolated polynucleotides encoding at least a portion of a glycine metabolism enzyme selected from choline oxidase, L-allo-threonine aldolase, phosphoserine phosphatase, and sarcosine oxidase. The invention also relates to the construction of a chimeric gene encoding all or a portion of a glycine metabolism enzyme, in sense or antisense orientation, wherein expression of the chimeric gene results in production of altered levels of the glycine metabolism enzyme in a transformed host cell.
