[Class 61 (i).] A vacuum cleaner having a motor-driven fan is provided with a short handle h which may be locked in position for cleaning curtains &c. by a catch i engaging one of the brackets f to which the handle is hinged, and a detachable extension to this handle by which the cleaner may be propelled to clean carpets &c. The spring catch i may be replaced by a screw lock.
