Zusammenfassung: | 343,844. Helical springs. TRAVERSO, F., 36, Via XX Settembre, Genoa, Italy. May 20, 1930, No. 15444. Convention date, May 31, 1929. [Classes 108 (ii) and 108 (iii).] In an elastic suspension devicefor vehicles and other purposes which includes a helical spring subjected to bending, adjacent coils of the spring are always in contact. The spring I is initially curved as shown in Fig. 3, the upper coils being then in contact throughout, but the spring when mounted and loaded, as shown in Fig. 1, is substantially horizontal. It is then supported on a member 4 which exerts a reaction in the direction R and is loaded by a force exerted in the direction P through a member 5. The ends of the spring may be clamped to the members 4, 5 by projections 3, 3 and clamping bands 7, 71, or they may engage the projections with freedom to move longitudinally. A number of such springs may be arranged in series or in parallel to form elastic supports. Two springs arranged longitudinally in front of and behind each end of a vehicle axle serve to support the frame. |
