Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a secondary battery negative electrode binder composition with which a stable negative electrode active material layer can be formed, which can follow volumetric changes in the negative electrode, whereby a secondary battery can be manufactured that achieves a high charge/discharge capacity and allows for improvement in charge/discharge cycle characteristics. Provided is a binder composition for fabricating a secondary battery negative electrode, containing an element capable of forming an alloy with lithium as an active material, which is a secondary battery negative electrode binder composition comprising an emulsion in which polymer particles derived from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer are dispersed in an aqueous solution of a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin, wherein the ratio of the polyvinyl alcohol-based resin/polymer particles is 60/40 to 99/1, as a weight ratio of resin solids.
