Zusammenfassung:A coated luminescent particle 100, a luminescent converter element, a light source, a luminaire and a method of manufacturing coating luminescent particles are provided. The coated luminescent particle 100 comprises a luminescent particle 102, a first coating layer 104 and a second coating layer 106. The luminescent particle 102 comprises luminescent material for absorbing light in a first spectral range and for converting the absorbed light towards light of a second spectral range. The luminescent material is sensitive for water. The first coating layer 104 forms a first barrier for water and comprises a metal oxide or a nitride, phosphide, sulfide based coating. The second coating layer 106 forms a second barrier for water and comprises a silicon based polymer or comprises a continuous layer of one of the materials AlPO4, SiO2, Al2O3, and LaPO4. The first coating layer 104 and the second coating layer 106 are light transmitting. The first coating layer 104 encapsulates the luminescent particle and the second coating layer 106 encapsulates the luminescent particle 102 with the first coating layer 104.
