Zusammenfassung:	An apparatus captures an image of a measuring instrument that is captured by an imaging apparatus, sets an area in the image as an edge detection processing target in response to a user operation, and executes edge detection processing on the set area in the image. Further, the image processing apparatus sets a value for correcting a position of a detected edge portion. The image processing apparatus corrects the position of the detected edge portion based on the set value and calculates a value indicated by a pointer of the measuring instrument according to the corrected position of the edge portion.
