Zusammenfassung:	A brake system for motor vehicles controllable by a driver or independently of the driver, comprises first and second brake actuation sensors. First and second electrically controllable pressure sources, can actuate the wheel brakes. A first electronic control unit controls the first pressure source, and is connected to the first brake actuation sensor. A second electronic control unit controls the second pressure source and is connected to the second brake actuation sensor. A hydraulic control device comprises a first solenoid valve between the wheel brakes and the first pressure source and a second solenoid valve between the wheel brakes and the second pressure source. There is a data connection between the first electronic control unit and the second electronic control unit. The first electronic control unit has a first interface and the second electronic control unit has a second interface that are not connected to each other.
