Zusammenfassung:The proposed method and device for detecting abnormalities of brightness on a digital picture can be used in processing digital pictures obtained in aerospace observations. The method consists in separating the picture into identical areas, selecting the area that is defined as a reference area, comparing the brightness of the picture elements within each area with the brightness of the corresponding elements within the reference area, determining the number of the picture elements with higher brightness and the number of the picture elements with lower brightness, and comparing the lesser of the said numbers with a threshold value. The threshold value for the comparison is determined depending on the area dimensions and the specified false alarm probability. The advantage of the proposed method is its increased accuracy in detecting abnormalities of brightness.
