Zusammenfassung:The proposed method for determining the boundaries of an object on an image consists in selecting an area for searching the image elements with a maximal brightness difference, determining the maximal brightness difference for the adjacent image elements at each stage of the search, determining the object boundaries by the maximal brightness differences of the image elements, approximating and smoothing the produced limiting line of the object. The area for searching the image elements is limited by a continuous curve that is plotted by the preliminary data about the object location. To determine the brightness difference for the adjacent image elements, a moving average filter is used that processes the rectangular data array. In the data array, each row contains a defined number of the matrix elements corresponding to the points of the specified section of the limiting curve, and each column contains a defined number of the matrix elements corresponding to the image elements that are positioned on the normal to the limiting curve at the corresponding point. The filter aperture is moved in the direction from the lower point to the upper point of the limiting curve and, at each stage of the search, the maximal brightness difference for the adjacent image element is determined. The coordinates of the medium point between the image elements with maximal brightness are recorded as the coordinates of the boundary line of the object. If two points corresponding to the maximal brightness difference are detected, the point would be registered that is nearer to the search area limiting curve. The above mentioned operations a repeated for all the sections of the limiting curve, and the results of the search are used for determining the points of the corrected limiting curve that presents the boundary line of the object.
