Zusammenfassung:	A method for melting steel involves side blast of liquid metal with oxygen and fuel-oxygen jets. The side blast is delivered at angles to vertical axis of converter and to horizontal plane above zones of prevalent cÄ discharge of bath - reaction zones of overhead tuyere oxygen jets interaction with the melt. Converter for smelting steel contains no less than two side tuyeres disposed tangentially and regularly (in 360/n DEGREE , where n -amount of side tuyeres) on circle or in the upper conical part of converter at interface of upper conical part of converter with cylindrical part thereof in such a manner that longitudinal axes of side tuyeres pass trough the interface of upper conical part of converter with cylindricall part thereof. Longitudinal axes of side tuyeres are disposed at angles to the vertical axis of converter and to the horizontal plane .
