A smart electronic device suitable for wall switches and a control method thereof are provided. The smart electronic devices suitable for wall switches includes a controller, a capacitor and a surge detector. The controller is used for controlling the smart electronic device to be in an OFF state or an ON state. The capacitor is connected to at least one wall switch to store an electric power. The capacitor is further connected to the controller to provide power to the controller. The surge detector is connected to the wall switch to detect a surge. When the surge detector detects the surge, it outputs a switching signal to the controller so that the controller can switch between the OFF state and the ON state.
