The apple leaf extract is extracted from plants of Malus, which is rich in polyphenolic compounds and has the ability to absorb ultraviolet ray in the UVB ultraviolet band. It is a natural ultraviolet absorber. The present invention further applies the apple leaf extract to a cosmetic composition to provide its sun protection function. The plant of Malus is Malus doumeri.
