Provided is a small-size fuse element which is suited to a large current by means of a simple structure. This fuse element 1 is provided with: an insulating substrate 2; a first electrode 3 and a second electrode 4, which are arranged on a surface 2a of the insulating substrate 2; and a conductor 6 which is connected to the first electrode 3 and the second electrode 4, respectively with a low-melting-point metal 5 being interposed therebetween, and which has a higher melting point than the low-melting-point metal 5. The conductor 6 moves until being separated from at least one of the first electrode 3 and the second electrode 4 by means of melting of the low-melting-point metal 5, thereby blocking the current-carrying path between the first electrode 3 and the second electrode 4.
