Glass manufacturing apparatus and methods

A glass manufacturing apparatus includes a forming device (103, 203) that produces a glass ribbon. A float bath (110, 210) includes an upstream end and a downstream end. A first pull roll device (102, 202) is arranged at least partially between the upstream end and the downstream end to draw the glass ribbon (105, 205) from the forming device over a float bath. The first pull roll device includes a first upstream roller arranged above a first major surface of the glass ribbon and a second upstream roller arranged below a second major surface of the glass ribbon. In further examples, methods of manufacturing a glass ribbon include the steps of forming the glass ribbon, drawing the glass ribbon over the float bath, and pinching the glass ribbon between the first upstream roller and the second upstream roller.
