Zusammenfassung:In continuous production of carbon fibers (CF's) (7) by carbonizing and graphitizing stabilized precursor fibers (PF's) (1) using high frequency electromagnetic waves (EMW's), the PF's are passed continuously as the inner conductor (2) of a coaxial conductor (with outer (3) and inner conductors) through a treatment zone (10)supplied with the EMW's. The EMW's are absorbed by and heat the PF's, to cause conversion into the CF's. The PF's and CF's are passed through the coaxial conductor and treatment zone under inert atmosphere.
