Device and method for detecting micro-processor execution performance

A method for detecting micro-processor execution performance utilizes some devices such as micro-processor, command counter and period counter and so on. First, micro-processor enters circuit emulation mode, reset the command counter and period counter as zero, and then set command cut points intended to know the command execution speed. Second, leave the circuit emulation mode and enter normal operation mode to execute commands. Command counter will add one at each time of executing one command. Period counter will add one at each clock signal passing through one period. When encounter command cut point during command execution process, leave the normal operation mode and enter circuit emulation mode. Then divide the value of command counter by the value of period counter to get the execution performance. If the count of the counter reaches the upper limit, leave the normal operation mode and enter the circuit emulation mode to get the execution performance till finish all of the commands or encountering command cut point.
