Zusammenfassung:A method of optically modifying an article of manufacture by changing the index of refraction of the host material and coating the modified material with an antireflection material. A method of optically modifying an article of manufacture including a host material having an index of refraction (n) comprising changing said index of refraction (n) of said host material by dispersing nanoparticulate filler material having an index of refraction (n3) into said host material forming an optically modified material, said optically modified material having an index of refraction (n1) greater than said index of refraction (n) of said host material; and, coating said optically modified material with a quarter wave coating material having an index of refraction (n2) so that the percent reflection is zero in an applied light of wavelength from 300 nm to 1200 nm as defined by the equation reflection % = 100(n2 -n0n1) /n2 +n0n1) is zero, wherein n0 is the index of refraction for ambient air, and to achieve the index of refraction for zero reflection, a volume % (gammav) of said nanoparticulate filler material is required based on volume of said host material gammav=100(n1-n)/(n3-n), wherein said index of refraction (n3) of said nanoparticulate filler material is greater than 2.0, and the diameter of said nanoparticulate filler material is less than 40 nm.
