Zusammenfassung: | This invention describes the preparation of uni- and bi- modal alumina supports and catalysts with specific pore size distributions and volume ratios by using alumina powder, the mixture of specific structures of short-chained wrinkled sheets, long-chained wrinkled sheets, and rhombohedral crystallites. These alumina supports and catalysts were applied to RDS demetalation (HDM) reaction. The unimodal catalyst has 60% to 80% of the total pore volume in an average pore diameter of ±20 . The bimodal catalyst has over 70% of the total pore volume in an average pore diameter of ±100 , and the volume percentage of each 10 was less than 10%. This invention also indicates that the combination of uni- and bi- modal alumina catalysts possessed excellent demetalation activities for different kinds of feedstock of atmosphere residue of 60% Arabian Heavy and 40% Arabian Light, and atmosphere and vacuum residue of Arabian Light. |
