Zusammenfassung:	A mattress structure (10) is provided for converting a platform such as a box spring (24) on a bed (11) to an articulatable platform for the bed (11). The mattress structure includes a mattress (12), a base platform (26) that is formed to rest on the box spring (24), first and second top plates (30, 32) hinged on the base platform (26), a head-end bladder (64, 66) fastened between the first top plate (30) and the base platform (26), and a foot-end bladder (68, 70) fastened between the second top plate (32) and the base platform (26). The mattress structure (10) further includes a fastener mechanism (218) that both holds the mattress (12) on the top plates (30, 32) and limits side-to-side movement of the mattress (12) on the top plates (30, 32). In addition, an attachment mechanism (77, 78) holds the base platform (26) on the box spring (24).
