Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a network interface card (NIC), in particular a smart Ethernet NIC used in a notebook computer. The primary structure comprises a mode detection device, a programmable memory, a network transmission device, a power supply system and a application specific integrated circuit. When the NIC is inserted in the slot in a notebook computer, the function of the NIC can be automatically adjusted in terms of the original interface of notebook computer so that the smart Ethernet NIC can be applied to the notebook computer with PCMCIA and card bus interfaces. In addition, data transmitted in the NIC are converted into 32-bit signals. Therefore, a smart Ethernet NIC can readily reach goal of high speed transmission that ensure the notebook computer with PCMCIA format can be rapidly upgraded in network transmission.
