Reinforced polymeric geogrids

The present invention provides geogrids for reinforcing soil material which include a first plurality of spaced-apart generally parallel members comprisihg a thermoplastic matrix material reinforced with fibers having a predetermined deformation temperature which is greater than a predetermined deformation temperature of the thermoplastic matrix material; and a second plurality of spaced-apart generally parallel thermoplastic members positioned adjacent to and forming a plurality of intersections with at least a portion of the first plurality of strands, wherein average thickness of an intersectin of the plurality of intersections is greater than average thickness of a corresponding member of the first plurality of members which is adjacent to the intersection.
