A treating agent for a digestive apparatus disease due to infection with Helicobacter comprising as an essential ingredient a rifamycin derivative represented by formula (I) or formula (II), or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof; wherein X1 is oxygen atom or sulfur atom, R1 is acetyl group or hydrogen atom, R2 is hydroxyl group or hydrogen atom, and R3 is a group represented by formula (III); wherein R4 and R5 are the same or mutually different and each is an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms or a group represented by formula (IV) wherein m is an integer selected from 1 to 3; or a group represented by formula (V) wherein R6 and R7 are the same or mutually different and each is hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, X2 is oxygen atom, sulfur atom or a group represented by formula: NR8 wherein R8 is hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 6 atoms or a group represented by formula: -(CH2)nX3 wherein n is an integer selected from 1 to 4, and X3 is an alkoxyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, vinyl group, ethynyl group or a group represented by formula (VI). And the formula (II) wherein R9 is an alkyl group having 1 to 7 carbon atoms.
