Read-error management during retrieving data storage-medium employing a data-retrieving optical beam

A compact disk read-only-memory (CD-ROM) data handling system for reading data from a CD by employing a CD drive which is provided to operate at several reading speeds, the CD-ROM data handling system comprising: a read-error resolving means for processing the read error detected signal; and the read-error resolving means comprising a speed control device which allows a user to reduce the CD driver to a lower speed; thereby the user is enabled to read the CD again at a lower speed, and therefore a reading error is more likely to be prevented.
