A filter for use in an aerosol generating article, the filter comprising first and second segments making up a longitudinally extending core; wherein the first segment comprises a first filtering material; wherein the second segment comprises a second filtering material which has a pressure drop from 0.1 to 0.5mmWG per mm of its length (for example a pressure drop from 0.2 to 0.3 mmWG per mm of its length, for example a pressure drop from 0.21 to 0.29mmWG per mm of its length, for example a pressure drop from 0.22 to 0.25mmWG per mm of its length, for example a pressure drop of 0.23mmWG per mm of its length); the filter further comprising a wrapper encasing the longitudinally extending core; wherein the first and second filtering materials comprise paper and/or other biodegradable material.
