Electric vehicle and method of overvoltage detection and protection the same

A method of overvoltage detection and protection for an electric vehicle, the electric vehicle includes an inverter and a control module, and the inverter includes two switch modules. The method includes entering a protection mode when a bus voltage is higher than an upper voltage limit, and during the protection mode the method further includes the following steps: (a) controlling one of the two switch modules to short-circuit and the other one of the two switch modules to open-circuit when the bus voltage is higher than the voltage upper limit, and controlling one of the two switch modules to open-circuit when the bus voltage is lower than a lower voltage limit value. (b) releasing the protection mode when the bus voltage does not rise to the voltage upper limit value for a certain period after the bus voltage is lower than the voltage lower limit value. (c) controlling the switch module whose over-temperature to open-circuit when the temperature of any one of two switch modules is higher than the upper tem
