The objective of the present invention is to provide an electric vacuum cleaner having improved operability and design properties when used as a handy electric vacuum cleaner. The electric vacuum cleaner of the present invention comprises: an electric blower 14 provided in a cleaner body 10; a dust collection portion 12 that is provided in the cleaner body 10 and collects dust suctioned by suction power generated by the electric blower 14; and a connection pipe 101 that is fixed to a front side of the cleaner body 10 and communicates with the dust collection portion 12. The dust collection portion 12 is provided with a dust collection filter 120 attached by fixing a support plate 122. A central axis A of a suction port 101b of the connection pipe 101 is positioned above a center position B of an inflow port 122a of the support plate 122.
