Zusammenfassung:	The present invention provides a novel Rhodosorus sp., which is a unicellular alga and has a low polysaccharide content. Because of the high cell wall breaking rate, it is easy to extract and separate phycoerythrin from the alga. Through proper regulation of incubation environment in temperature, light intensity, photoperiod and photo quality, this novel Rhodosorus sp. could be a good source of phycoerythrin.
