Zusammenfassung:	A method for reducing the emission of contaminants 700 by a furnace 250 is provided. The method includes forming a bed 440 from a stream of fuel 122 within the furnace 250; fluidizing the bed 440 with flue gas 272 from the furnace 250; and heating the fuel 122 within the bed 440 so as to generate char 702, ash 704 and contaminants 700. The method further includes capturing the contaminants 700 via the ash 704.
