Zusammenfassung:	A device for creating clamping between mutually facing clamping faces (24, 26), which form a friction fit between one another, on a fixed body (2) and a body (4) that is movable relative thereto, in particular in the form of a rotary indexing table, wherein a power drive (40) that is actuable by a pressure means and is intended to create a clamping force that acts between the clamping faces (24, 26) is provided, is characterized in that, in order to form pairs of the mutually interacting clamping faces (24, 26), a pack of plates located one on top of another is provided, formed of fixed discs (24) connected to the fixed body (2) and movable discs (26) connected to the movable body (4), and in that the discs (24, 26) are able to be subjected to a contact pressure force in a clamping region (42) by means of the power drive (40).
