Zusammenfassung:	A paper sheet processing apparatus includes: an input unit into which paper sheets are input from outside; an identification unit that identifies the paper sheet fed out from the input unit while transferring the paper sheet in a first direction and in a second direction which is reverse to the first direction; a temporary holding unit that temporarily holds paper sheets identified as acceptable by the identification unit; a payout unit that holds paper sheets identified as unacceptable by the identification unit in a state where the pater sheets are taken out from outside; a storage unit that stores paper sheets fed out from the temporary holding unit and identified by the identification unit while transferring through the identification unit in the second direction, so that the paper sheet fed out from the temporary holding unit and identified by the identification unit while transferring through the identification unit can be transferred back to the input unit.
