Provided are shoulder straps for a backpack wherein the full strap width of an area from an upper joint part joining to a backpack body to a front shoulder part contacts a shoulder, thereby making it possible to distribute the load instead of concentrating the load in a limited area of the shoulder. Also provided is a backpack provided with the same. The shoulder straps for a backpack are constituted from an elastic core material and a surface fabric covering the core material, and disposed left and right as a pair. The shoulder straps for a backpack are characterized in that the core material has a height difference so that in at least the part that contacts the body, the shoulder straps are thicker on the outer side than on the inner side.
