Zusammenfassung:This invention provides a Polarization-independent liquid crystal phase modulation device, comprising a substrate which is transparent to light, a second substrate and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first and second substrate. In particular, the liquid crystal layer has a plurality of liquid crystal columns arranged in a first direction. The arrangement periods of the liquid crystal columns are not larger than the wavelengths of the incident light and the liquid crystal molecules of the adjacent liquid crystal columns are arranged orthogonal to each other.
