Zusammenfassung:	The present invention discloses an autofocus method of determining an optimal focal plane. The method comprises reconstructing a holographic image, identifying objects in the reconstructed image, performing a first edge detection for an object at a depth based on the real part of the reconstructed image, performing a second edge detection for the object at the depth based on the imaginary part of the reconstructed image, obtaining a first degree of clearness for the object at the depth based on a first standard deviation with respect to the first edge detection, and evaluating a second degree of clearness for the object at the depth based on a second standard deviation with respect the second edge detection.
