Method for bioremediation of contaminated soils and contaminated groundwater

A method for bioremediation of contaminated soils and contaminated groundwater comprises the steps of heating a gel composition to form a liquid composition, wherein the gel composition includes a nutritious component for microorganisms, a gelling agent and a solvent, and the solvent is selected from water, an vegetable oil, or combinations thereof, and the gelling agent is selected from gelatin, agar, a carrageen or combinations thereof; applying the liquid composition to a contaminated region, the liquid composition returning to the gel composition and the gel composition attaching to the contaminated region and filling spaces of the contaminated region, wherein the contaminated region is selected from an unsaturated zone, an aquifer, or combinations thereof; the gel composition is configured to provide nutrients for microorganisms of the contaminated region, thereby reducing pollutants from the contaminated region by the microorganisms.
