Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to an integrated system for the preparation of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and the use of the PTA for the production of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET). Advantageously, the integrated system design described herein can minimize the possibility of contamination of the PTA production operation with reactant, catalysts, or impurities from the PET production operation. Methods of using the integrated system for the production of PET are also described.
