Side-light emitting device and method of making the same

A side-light emitting device, including a lead frame, an emitting chip, an encapsulating compound, and a light-shape adjusting unit. The lead frame includes a base that defines a notch, and two electrode panels. The electrode panels connect the base, extend to the notch, and deliver an external electric power. The emitting chip is. disposed in the notch of the lead frame, and emits when receiving the external electric power. The encapsulating compound is filled in the notches so as to cover the emitting chip. The light-shape adjusting unit extends from a surface of the encapsulating compound and the light-shape adjusting unit is a pillar shape, wherein the light-shape adjusting unit has a height larger than a radius of the light-shape adjusting unit, such that a luminance of side-light is large. The invention provides a method of making the side-light emitting device.
