Zusammenfassung:	The purpose of the present invention is to provide a print ink that has excellent setting and antimisting properties and yields a high-gloss print surface, and a varnish composition for the print ink, as well as a rosin-modified phenolic resin. The problem is solved by using a rosin-modified phenolic resin obtained by reacting, as essential stock components, a phenolic compound (A) having a C10-20 unsaturated hydrocarbon group at the meta-position, a rosin (B), an aldehyde (C), and a polyhydric alcohol (D).
