Systems and methods for supporting cooperative streaming for multimedia multicast

A system and method may be described for cooperatively delivering a television (TV) broadcast. In one architecture, a broadcast and multicast - service center (BM-SC) may split a compressed video stream associated with the TV broadcast into a plurality of compressed video streams. A first data gateway may receive a first one of the compressed video streams, a second data gateway may receive a second one of the compressed video streams, and a third data gateway may receive a third one of the compressed video stream. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may use a service descriptor to register with the data gateways and receive the first, second and third video streams. The first data gateway may be a multimedia broadcast multicast service gateway (MBMS-GW), the second data gateway may be a packet data network gateway (PDN-GW), and the third data gateway may be a wireless local area network gateway (WLAN-GW).
