Zusammenfassung:	The invention is based on the object to simplify the manufacture of optical systems that include filter glasses as an infrared filter, and to make it cheaper and at the same time to reduce the space required by the filter glass. To this end, a glass wafer (1) is provided made of a copper ions containing phosphate or fluorophosphate glass, wherein the glass wafer (1) has a diameter greater than 15 centimeters and a thickness of less than 0.4 millimeters, and wherein at least one of the two plane-parallel surfaces (3, 5) of the glass wafer (1) is polished.
