Zusammenfassung:Magnolia is a Chinese herbal medicine commonly used to improve clinical gastrointestinal diseases, cough, muscle relaxation and sedation. The present invention studies on three new biphenyl compounds separated from magnolia bark: 5'-allyl-5-(1-hydroxyallyloxy) BIPHENYL-2, 2'-diol (formula 1), 5,5 '-DIALLYL-2-(allyloxy) biphenyl-2'-ol (formula 2) and 5,5 '-DIALLYL-2-(3-methylbut-2-enyloxy) biphenyl-2'-ol (formula 3), and 12 known compound (formulas 4-15). These compounds are subjected to a variety of analysis of experimental data (including 2D-NMR: NOESY, COSY, HMBC, HSQC, etc.) and comparison with data of relevant literature in order to verify their structures. Anti-inflammatory activity of the above separated compounds is evaluated based on the induced human neutrophils generate superoxide anion and elastase effect by inhibiting formyl-L-methionyl-L-leucyl-L-phenylalanine/cytochalasin B (fMLP/CB).
