A method and apparatus for video data coding using graphic processors and central proceesors

This invention reveals coding method and apparatus for the video data streams from PC cameras or web cameras to the computer systems that utilizing the graphic processors and central processors on a computer system. The computer system consists of one or many central processors, one or many memory units to store data, one or many graphic processors, one or many display unit and at least one or many PC cameras or one or many web cameras. The connection between a PC camera or a web camera and the computer system is through either one or many of the following bus system: USB, IEEE 1394, WiFi(802.11a/b/g/n), WiMAX, GSM/GPRS, CDMA, WCDMA, WCDA, TDS_CDMA etc. The method and apparatus claims that the video data streams from the PC cameras or web cameras could be decoded into raw video data streams by software that utilizing the GPU (graphic processing unit) and the CPU (central processing unit) in the computer system.
