Zusammenfassung:	The invention provides a gear and a method for forming the tooth profile of the gear. The invention modifies the tooth profile of a standard rack by a cubic curve. The cubic curve tangents to the midpoint of the addendum, the midpoint of the dedendum and the midpoint of the side edges of the standard rack to form an amended rack. The tooth profile of the gear is generated by the amended rack.
