Electronic thermometer and display control method

The functional object of the electronic clinical thermometer according to the present invention is to provide the user an easily observable display of the measured body temperature without affecting convenience of the apparatus. The clinical thermometer 100 of the present invention comprises a light emitting section 252 having a plurality of arrayed LEDs 252A, a swing detecting section 230 for detecting swing of the clinical thermometer 100, and a display control section 244 further comprises drawing means for making a light dot pattern, a calculating means for figuring out the lighting time duration of each dot array of LEDs 252A according to the calculated swinging time duration of the clinical thermometer 100 along the preset direction detected by the swing detection section 230, and according to the dot array number necessary for displaying the light pattern. Then lighting of each LED 252A can be controlled according to the light dot pattern, and the lighting duration of each calculated dot array.
