Electrical card connector

An electrical card connector includes an insulative body having a card slot, a plurality of rows of terminal received in the insulative body, a metal shell mounted on the insulative body, and a metal protecting plate mating with the insulative body. Each terminal includes a soldering portion, an engaging portion and a joining portion connecting the soldering portion with the engaging portion. The insulative body defines an inserting direction of a card, and an entrance of a card inserting by associating with the metal shell. The terminals are arranged at the entrance to engage with the shell. A generally rectangular opening is defined at the entrance by the metal shell and the metal protecting plate. With such metal protecting plate, the ESD test can be easily finished. Particularly, the static electricity can be protected from invading into the card slots and transmitting on a circuit adjacent to the entrance to destroy the circuit.
